Residents Can Watch as Personal Information Gets Shredded, Ensuring Confidentiality

In an effort to help residents securely dispose of personal and sensitive documents, Mangano Family Funeral Homes is hosting free paper shredding events that are open to the public:

  • Saturday, May 3rd, at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home, 406 East Main Street, Riverhead, NY 11901
  • Sunday, May 4th, at Mangano Family Funeral Home, 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY 11729

Both of these events begin at 9:00am and last until 12:00pm, or until the shredding truck reaches capacity, whichever comes first.

These community events offer a safe and convenient way to prevent identity theft and responsibly recycle outdated documents. Residents are encouraged to bring old tax forms, medical records, bank statements, and other confidential paperwork. All items will be shredded on-site in a professional mobile shredding truck — while you watch — and then responsibly recycled to help reduce waste.

Each individual may bring up to four (4) bags or boxes of documents. These events are for residential use only. No materials from commercial businesses will be accepted.

Only paper documents will be accepted. Staples are permitted but please remove paper clips, binders, plastic sleeves and other non-paper materials. Cardboard, hard drives and electronic media will not be accepted.

“We are proud to provide a secure way for local residents to dispose of their documents,” said Sal Mangano, President of Mangano Family Funeral Homes. “It’s important that people have access to these kinds of services, not only to protect their personal information but also doing so through responsible recycling.”
